Designing with Kids in Mind

Want to great a home with high impact and design but find it hard to do with all the kids toys and daily clutter. Here are a few ways to help keep everything in it's place but always within reach for fun!

1. Start with your entry: creating a space off your main entrance to hold shoes, bags, keys, mail is number one. Wether your main entrance is your front door or garage door having a space to unload at the end of a long day will help keep the mess from moving further into your home. Baskets are not only decorative but are a great home for shoes, handbags, gloves, dog leash, tog toys, it's limitless.

2. Living Rooms can pull double duty: Since most of the action in our home occurs in living rooms everything must have multiple purposes. Baskets are great to hold remotes, throw blankets, toys, video games, even diapers and wipes if your in a pinch or have a two story home :)
When decorating your shelves if you are like me and don't want just anything but don't know where to start. Here are a few things to remember.
- Decorate with your kids art, it will add color and they will feel a sense of accomplishment that their work is on display
- Jars are a great way to display items your family collects in travels or adventures. Rocks, shells, pins, etc.
- Mix it up. Play with different textures, metals and colors.
